9 Big Mistakes New Affiliate Marketers Make

9 Big Mistakes New Affiliate Marketers Make.

9 Big Mistakes New Affiliate Marketers Make. I have been a blogger for some years now. I create content for several blogs with completely different content in each blog.

What I have discovered is that as affiliate marketers that are new to the marketing industry, we all tend to make the same type mistakes. I am going to show you how to avoid the time and cash consuming mistakes that I made before, while at the same time, offering you great information on how to be a super affiliate marketer.

Issues newbies have becoming active affiliate promoters

Minimize your choices

Start with one opportunity and learning platform. Adding too much too quickly will either have you pulling your hair out or getting so overwhelmed you just give up.

Don’t add gasoline to the fire in the beginning. Learn through one platform completely with an established step by step directive that lays out details for your plans and goals.

Know your marketing niche

You know you want to be a super affiliate, but do you know what you want to sell or to whom you will sell it?

t’s almost impossible to promote Uncle Ted’s awesome Camel Rides  to Afghans or Arabs.

You want to sell Uncle Ted’s awesome Camel Ride guide, so you need to be aware of where your target audience is for  Camel Rides.

What if you have followers that followed you because of the way you dress? Some may be interested in Uncle Ted’s awesome Camel Rides guide, but chances are, you will lose their interest if you don’t deliver your style ingredients.

This idea brings me to the importance of establishing lists to best provide what each individual is interested in so that you are relevant to their needs.

Build your Lists

Your first list is always going to be the people directly around you. You know the audience, and you can establish product lists based on this list. Knowing how to create and build on your lists can be very confusing and time consuming without the proper knowledge and tools.

Your marketing platform should provide in depth worksheets and tutorials for you to successfully build your lists according to your action plans. The ones I have used in the past and paid monthly fees to use did not offer this, and assumed that knowledge was there.

Another failure for me because they never covered all I needed to know about lists. Not until now anyways.

Focus on the only the best

Slow down when it comes time to choose a product or create a product list for a specific audience. Know your sources and seek out the top proven affiliate networks with the top paying products. Now don’t get me wrong, the 9 Big Mistakes New Affiliate Marketers Make, just because a product will pay you more does not make it worthy of investment.

If you are promoting a product to people that trust you, and they decide that product isn’t worth what they have paid, they will not be so quick to trust you with the next product you try to promote to them. Keep it real, and don’t sacrifice your followers for cash for junk products.

4 Free Affiliate Marketing Programs For Beginners.

#1. ClickBank

ClickBank is the most popular affiliate marketing program for beginners. It is also the 9 Big Mistakes New Affiliate Marketers Make. Clickbank is biggest marketplace for digital goods.

I prefer digital goods because they have higher profit margins (versus physical goods which have shipping and handling costs + inventory costs).

You can literally find digital products in almost any industry.

Here are some examples: arts & entertainment, betting systems, business and investing, E-Business and E-Marketing, education, home & garden, health and fitness, languages, self-help, sports, spirituality, travel and so on and so forth.

You can pick whatever product you want to promote and you get a customized link that tracks back to you when a sale is made (called a “HopLink”).

#2. Commission Junction

Commission Junction (CJ) is very similar to ClickBank, except they have physical goods and cost per action options (CPA), too.

CPA is when an advertiser pays you based on a specific action that must be taken, such as filling out a contact request, newsletter sign up, registration, or even making a sale.

CJ also has big-name Fortune 500 brands as advertisers, such as Best Buy and The North Face.

Just like ClickBank, they have lots of industries to choose from and it’s free to join.

CJ is a little more strict when accepting you as an affiliate (publisher) because you first need to be approved by the advertiser you want to promote for.

#3. JVZoo

JVZoo is much like ClickBank.

It’s all digital goods and they have products from all industries.

The differences are that sellers have to approve you before you can promote their products.

You also keep more of what you earn whereas with ClickBank, they take a larger portion of your earnings.

Lastly, JVZoo does payout via PayPal.

#4. Amazon Associates

Amazon is the biggest online store on the planet.

When you signup for their affiliate program, you can promote any product you want (books, headphones, jewelry, tablets, guitars, etc.)

You will be given a unique link, that when someone clicks on and buys, you will earn a commission.

For example, maybe you just bought a new pair of Dr. Beat headphones, and you wrote a blog post about how awesome they are.

If you stick your affiliate link in that blog post, you will earn a commission when someone clicks and buys.

But what if they don’t buy the headphones? Instead, they get distracted and buy something else?

You still earn a commission for that (which is pretty cool).

The big negative with Amazon though is the commissions are low, so the money you make really depends on the price of the product you’re trying to sell.

That’s why I always recommend high ticket affiliate programs.

Be consistent

Be consistent in all you do from the types of products you offer to the content you update. Your viewers expect whatever you do to be done on a consistent level. If you are a blogger and offer recipes on Wednesdays, then be sure you continue that.

Your viewers see your activity and they look forward to seeing what’s next. If you stop offering the content they are after, they’ll stop looking for you.

There’s so many fill in the gap programs offered out there that it’s tough to find one that has it all laid out for newbies. I have only seen this depth from one source and of course, I had to jump on it.

It has totally changed my affiliate status from almost no earnings to an organized, detailed, proven system that I can keep up with and earn big on.

The bottom line is this…

If you are new to affiliate marketing, or even if you have been doing it aimlessly for a while, earning little or nothing, I have seen many alternative plans, but the one that’s done me fair justice most recently is one in particular.

Are you new to affiliate marketing and eager to learn how to do it, but not sure what the best route is?

I would also check out the Warrior Forum, which is the largest and most active forum for affiliate marketers.

You can learn a lot there by asking questions and reading threads.

So go and get your hands dirty and start making mistakes. That’s the best way to learn. That’s how I learned.
