Traffic Website Check. One of the key ways to bring web traffic to your site is SEO which stands for search engine optimization.Search engines make money through advertising. The more people who come to their site, the more they can charge for the advertising. What search engines do is provide relevant information surrounding the topic for which you are searching.

They use an algorithm to find specific keywords on internet websites and then list those sites on their site in order of probable relevance and popularity. So when you’re choosing a topic that you want to write about on your blog, you want to choose high-ranking keyword phrases with low competition.

Keywords Have to Have Relevancy

You want to make sure those phrases have relevance to what you’re writing about. This allows the reader to obtain the information for which they are looking. So if you are a Farmer in Florida that was trying to get his website ranked, you would want to use relevant keyword phrases.

Your keyword phrase would be Orlando Florida Farmer with 20 years experience. You are providing the relevant information for which the reader is looking. Do your research and ask yourself what does my website, product or service do that solves a problem.

Then use ranking keywords to describe your website, product or service.

How To Find Keywords

Now the best way to find out about those keywords is to ask the search engines themselves. Just type in “AdWords keyword tool” in their search fields and it will give you the link to this popular tool. Then you would type in the phrase that you think you want to use.

I like to check all three of the boxes under the match type field. You are looking for the highest ranking keywords with the least competition. Now remember that we are looking for relevant keywords. If your best match to what you want to talk about is only 500 searches a month, that is still good.

We would want to do this same search per page of your website. So if one page of your website gets, lets say 800 searches a month, well that is still valuable traffic. Just make sure that you are using the best keyword phrase as it relates to your topic, goods or services.

Also, be careful not to bank on the volume of traffic as it relates to your keyword phrase. Those numbers that are showing are not a hard numbers. It can very up in down on a monthly basis. It is more of a guide. Another service you can you use is a website called UBERSUGGEST.

They pull their search information from other search engines like Google. They will display their word search on a daily basis rather than a monthly. So use the two tools in tandem to get a good idea of where the traffic is.

This is the same concept that pizza take aways use to build an offline business. They build their restaurants where there is traffic.

Tip #1-Ensure you are using the correct keywords and phrases your visitors are using to look for you

If you use any type of analytics on your website, read your visitor’s mind. Look at the keywords and phrases that have been used to find your website. Check to be sure you are indeed using those keywords in your SEO practices.

Also look to see if there are variations of the phrase that you can use. Search engine optimization and optimize for search engines are basically the same but can get you completely different visitors and are two entirely different key-phrases

Tip #2-Your content is not optimized to take advantage of keywords or phrases being searched for.

While you are assessing your keywords and key-phrases, look at your content and see if you can use newly discovered keywords or phrases in them. Rewriting the content slightly to take advantage of the new keywords may also be advisable.

Tip #3-Your titles do not use your keywords or phrases

Make sure your keywords are used in the title. For instance, if your key-phrase is search engine optimization, a good title for the key-phrase search engine optimization may be; Search Engine Optimization-How to take the pain out of optimizing your website for search engines.

Tip #4-You do not receive much traffic from your pictures or images

I am sure you have done a search for an image before, probably using Google image search or something similar. How do you search for an image? You type in exactly what you are looking for of course!

If you use images on your website, you MUST name them using your keywords that are used in your content, or at least give the picture a name that describes exactly what it is. The alt tag should also contain your keywords or a description of the picture.

For instance, let’s do an image search for free traffic. All the pictures that show up are in some form or another have a name or alt tag that includes free traffic, traffic free, traffic, or some other variation so the search engine knows it is a picture of free traffic.

If your pictures don’t have titles using your keywords or at least a descriptive title, your images will never show up in the search results.

Think about it, your digital camera gives the picture a random name like DKV2009, yet it is a picture of free traffic. Do you think anyone will ever search for DKV2009 looking for a picture of FREE TRAFFIC?

The search engines will never know that the weirdly named picture is actually free traffic, so it will never be displayed in the results. If your picture shows up in search results you may get some click through traffic looking for more information.

Tip #5-Your images are not optimized correctly for search engines

Along with the naming of your pictures, they need to be optimized for fast loading. Search engines like Google may rank your site better if it loads quickly. Also, your visitors will appreciate it much more too.

Your picture doesn’t have to be huge, 640 x 480 is plenty large enough. Also, for jpg’s, a progressive jpg is preferred.

Irfanview is a free program that can optimize your images and is free. There are also websites online that can be used to optimize your pictures as well.

Tip #6-Use video to draw visitors

If you are not taking advantage of YouTube and other video sharing websites you may be missing a lot of visitors. YouTube has millions of viewers a day and they spend countless hours watching video.

Upload video to YouTube related to your website and have a link in the description to your website. You can also have a short introduction in the video with your website.

Tip #7-You don’t have quality links pointing to your website

Search engines will rank your website higher (which will result in more visitors) if there are links from relevant websites back to yours. These websites can be forums, blogs, etc. If the forum allows it, create a signature with a link to your website.

When contributing (high quality contribution, NO spam comments) your signature will have a link to your website. Anyone who reads your comment can click through to your website.
